route 100 eastbound entrance ramp. sky 11 flew over the screen as emergency crews rushed to get two 16-year-olds, a 19-year-old, and 20-year-old into and.... there are no traffic -- into ambulances. there are no traffic lights. all of the pedestrians were taken by abby lance with shock trauma and critical injuries. one of the article injuries is life-threatening. >> you might get something like this in a crowd gathering. but those were pedestrians crossing the road is very unusual. >> police say traffic has taken over the investigation. the victims include two 16-year- old males, a 19-year-old female,

and a 20-year-old man. >> a high school student is in police custody tonight. he was involved in another gun shooting, this time in california. it happened around 9 a.m. the victim had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital. at last check, the victim was considered in critical condition. police say the shotgun was recovered at the scene and at least 20 additional rounds of ammunition were found in the suspect's pocket. one of the person suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. >> a judge has ruled that there is enough evidence for james holmes to face trial on charges of killing will people and injuring seven others inside a movie theater last summer. his attorney says he is not ready. >> incidents like this but gun violence meetings on capitol

and control is an issue that state lawmakers are addressing at that maryland general assembly. >> the showdown between b.g.e. and local lawmaker. >> when lawmaker has introduced legislation to keep b.g.e. from charging consumers a monthly fee to maintain their old meters. we have more on the issue. >> what we are talking about is a refusal fee. it is an issue in 19 states, including maryland. smart meters are supposed to expedite utilities response to outages and keep track of who is without power and for how long. the monetary electric use in real-time. >> you can go onto your computer and see in real-time at 24 hour delay roughly of the energy uses. >> there is concern that smart meters cause health problems.

they want bge customers to opt out of the program, but it is temporary. and till the final ruling -- a republican delegate introduced a bill making the option permanent. >> someone who does not want a smart meter attached to the house, they can refuse it at no cost to them. >> b.g.e. does not currently have an opt out plan. the spokesman says the company would have to charge a fee. 19 states, including maryland, are grappling with those issues. some arguments are tied up in courts. others are being handled through legislation. >> i want the elderly person to be able to refuse a smart meter. why should they have to pay to refuse something that they do not want? >> state such as vermont, california, and maine have opt out options, but for a fee.

impacts have a monthly fee of $10 to keep their traditional meter. >> why should citizens of maryland have to pay when they do not have the money to receive a smart meter if they do not want it? >> he is meeting with michael busch on tuesday on how to get this bill passed. in annapolis, wbal-tv 11 news. >> house speaker michael busch gave wire and new committee assignment. he is being moved from the house judiciary committee to the house committee of ways and means. in a statement, he says he understood why the change was necessary. he faces boating under the influence charges. i was a boating accident that injured seven people. >> the woman who led police on a car chase yesterday has had previous run-ins with the law and pass a possible law enforcement. the pursuit captured by sky team

11 started in baltimore city and ended in baltimore county. it involved polices from both forces. alycia marie hoffman faces charges and also arrested for drunk offense just a few days ago. the car she was driving along to her grandfather. >> a crisis warning tonight. this time it is buyer and seller beware. police have been called to investigate a number of robberies. most of the cases involved people trying to sell iphones and other apple products. they were lured into isolated areas and were robbed at gunpoint. >> once they get to the location, they are approached by at least one male. he is armed with a weapon and he robs them. >> police say no injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. >> up next, new rules.

from a brain disease when he killed himself last made. there was a study on --doctors found that his brain suffered from ce t -- cte. it affects people who have competitive -- repetitive head injuries. his family says he exhibited those problems in private and it became worse before he shot himself. >> if you are on probation, you know that police from time to time could check up on you at home. what about hiding that massive stash from the cops? police say this close relative of the alligator was found regarding 30 pounds of marijuana in a bedroom. the reptile's owner name to mr. t. -- teeth.

unfortunately, the animal died. >> flamingos do prefer warmer climates, the animals can handle earlier temperatures. zookeepers also put out more food for those animals that allowed them to stay indoors. when animal that is no stranger to snow is the moose. seeing double winker once in a while is not out of the ordinary. jeff palmer says this is the first time he saw a moose. hundreds of people say they have thought of the moose around the resort. it has found a quicker way to get from one side to the other. >> a big galumph.

the early morning hours. the high temperatures reported in the afternoon, look at the one to the south. that will search the eastern seaboard. it is headed for the great lakes. as long as the storm track is west of the mountains, there will be showers and it will be unseasonably mild going into the weekend. a cold front will be going through the rockies. it'll be brutally cold in denver. they will be in the teens. wind chills will be around 10 degrees. look at the bitterly cold that will be spilling down into denver. that is 5:30 p.m. in the rockies. we are in the 50's and 60's over here. to the northeast and mid- atlantic, snow is pushing in. wednesday and thursday of next week.

it will feel a little bit like winter. that is next week. temperatures will be above normal. with summary winds, it will be unseasonably mild. there is that arctic runs off to the north and west. probably will not move through here. shower chances increasing as we head into the late afternoon. 5:24 a.m. in the morning for high tide. rain showers on friday. we will be in the 50's on saturday. we will have an arctic front and that is when you can expect cold for the second of the week. 60 on saturday. 51 tomorrow. we will be in the upper 60's on parts of the lower eastern shore on sunday.
